Urbiotica: Cordoba Adopts State-Of-The-Art Technology to Improve Urban Mobility

Optimize the Search for Parking Spaces, Reducing the Time Spent on This Task and Facilitating Smoother Circulation in Urban Areas

In an effort to address the challenges of traffic congestion and improve the drivers’ experience, the Cordoba City Council has launched an ambitious Smart Parking project in the city awarded to our partner EYSA. This innovative project employs state-of-the-art Urbiotica technology to optimize the search for parking spaces, reducing the time spent on this task and facilitating smoother circulation in urban areas.

The implemented system consists of information panels strategically located at key points in the city. These panels provide real-time information on the availability of parking spaces in five different zones, allowing drivers to make informed decisions about where to park most efficiently.

The basis of this system lies in the 900 sensors installed in each parking space. These sensors automatically detect the presence of vehicles and send precise data on the occupancy of each space to a centralized system. This information is continuously updated and reflected on the information panels, providing a clear and up-to-date view of parking availability in real time.

In addition to significantly improving the driver experience, the project seeks to reduce congestion in the city’s downtown areas. By enabling drivers to find parking more quickly and efficiently, it is expected to reduce search time and improve mobility in the city. This, in turn, will contribute to a reduction in pollutant emissions, improving the city’s air quality.

The EYSA and Urbiotica project represents an important milestone in Cordoba’s digital transformation and underlines the city’s commitment to innovation in sustainable urban solutions. With this initiative, Cordoba not only aims to improve the mobility and experience of citizens through the guidance system, but also foresees, in the near future, the extension of the project into sensorization for the control of loading and unloading spaces.
