EFAFLEX: A Whole New Sense of Security
The Dutch municipality of Bergen op Zoom offers car park users improved safety by installing high-speed doors from EFAFLEX
In car park environments, people’s sense of security can feel at risk as a result of either poorly maintained parts of the building, lack of cleanliness, the risk of crime, insufficient lighting or the unwanted entry of non-authorised vehicles or people. In the Achter de Grote Markt underground car park, the Dutch municipality of Bergen op Zoom is overcoming concerns such as these and increasing the sense of security having recently installed two high-speed parking system doors from industry specialists EFAFLEX.
Traditional car parking doors are often slow to close, and with the long delay after a vehicle has passed through, there is a heightened opportunity for unauthorised people to slip either in to, or out of the facility. This is why Bergen op Zoom, located on the waterway linking Rotterdam and Antwerp, has followed the recommendations of the police and specialists by deciding to install high-speed doors designed by industry market leaders EFAFLEX.
Two EFA-SST® PS doors now secure the car park entrance and exit points in order to improve the safety of the users by speeding up the door opening and closing. The doors, which are equipped with a light grid as standard, were manufactured bespoke to fit the dimensions 3583 x 2350 mm for the entrance and 3499 x 2330 mm for the exit with further regulation of access using traffic lights and induction loops.
With the EFA-SST® PS, the engineers at EFAFLEX have developed a space saving door which is specifically designed for parking and garage systems as the structure can be installed even when there is limited lintel or side frame space. The EFAFLEX spiral design continues to be the company’s best-selling system even in such confirmed areas as it uses smaller door laths which are 105mm in height making it ideal for underground car parks. The doors open at a speed of 1.8 metres per second and close at an impressive 1 meter per second, minimising and preventing unauthorised access to the car park, making the entry and exit points safer and more secure.
The EFA-SST® PS system is an ideal solution for hotels, banks, residential buildings or any areas where unauthorised access needs to be managed or controlled.
Ventilation laths can be added into the door blade to allow for improved circulation of air or integrated into smoke extraction systems. In addition, EFAFLEX offers
thermally separated EFA-THERM® insulation laths for EFA-SST® as a standard feature – the first manufacturer in the world to do so. Depending on the door size,
this allows for outstanding thermal insulation values of between 0.66 and 1.52 W/m² K to be achieved in operating temperatures of ±30ºC. Virtually transparent
acrylic door laths can be used if clients want to maximise visibility and optimise natural daylight.
