Economy Garage Phase II Opens Ahead of Schedule

Tampa, FL Just in time for the busy summer travel season and ahead
of the original construction schedule, Phase II of the Economy Parking Garage at Tampa International Airport opens to customers. Phase II provides an additional 2,300 garage parking spaces of economy parking, bringing the total to 5,500. In addition, there are over 1,500 surface parking spaces available, allowing for overflow in peak travel times.
With the opening of the second phase of garage parking, the introductory offer of “Second Day Free” parking has been discontinued. “The Second Day Free offer was put
in place to entice Long Term Garage customers to try the Economy option,” said Louis Miller, Executive Director, Tampa International Airport. “The promotion was a success.

Customers are now aware of all of their parking options at the Airport and can select the facility that best meets their needs.” The Economy Garage offers customers the service and convenience of On-Airport parking at an affordable rate – just $7.00 per day. Customers still have the options of Short Term Garage and Long Term Garage parking located closer to the terminal at $18.00 per day and $14.00 per day, respectively. Customers desiring the
highest level of service and convenience can also opt for the valet parking at $24.00 per day.

Other parking changes implemented earlier in the year, such as the First Hour Free of garage parking are not affected by the Economy Garage Phase II opening. The first hour free of garage parking at the terminal encourages drivers meeting arriving passengers to park their cars and meet guests inside the terminal to avoid curbside congestion.

Enhancing the Phase II garage elevator lobby is public art showcasing the wall and floor. The Tampa International Airport Public Arts Committee selected Massachusetts artist Mike Mandel and Oregon artist Robert Calvo.
Mandel’s wall artwork is titled, “Passengers” and its glass tile mosaic mural gives customers the feeling that they are walking down the center aisle of an aircraft cabin viewing onboard passengers. Calvo’s terrazzo floor presents multiple frames with each frame containing a unique sun design, the state of Florida and the names of many
Florida cities. It is titled, “36 Florida Sun Rises.”
