EasyPark: Parking Apps Reduce Annoyances Abroad
Parking during the autumn holidays: one app for at home and abroad.
In 2022, research showed that 61 percent found it difficult to find a parking space in an unfamiliar city, and that 60 percent found it difficult to determine whether parking was paid or unpaid. From now on, Dutch people can use the same EasyPark app to park both at home and abroad.
EasyPark asked Dutch people how they currently experience parking abroad.
The number of drivers who still find parking abroad difficult has decreased significantly. Within this group that finds it difficult, 67 percent indicate that they find it unclear whether it is paid parking or not. 66 percent also find it difficult to find a suitable parking space in an unfamiliar city.
Preparation Is Half the Battle
Nearly eight out of ten drivers (79 percent) have no difficulty parking abroad. Most find that parking spaces are generally well indicated, and more than half prepare well by looking in advance where they can park or by using an app that helps them with this.
Michael Stark, Country Director EasyPark Netherlands: "The challenges that motorists encounter abroad, such as finding a parking space or uncertainty about paid parking, are also the biggest frustrations. It is positive that many people know how to avoid these problems through good preparation. Parking apps help enormously with this. Our renewed app, which allows you to pay for parking with the same account in your own country and in more than 4,000 European cities, makes the transaction around parking even easier."
EasyPark notices that parking apps are used a lot in Italy (24 percent), followed by Germany (17 percent) and Sweden (12 percent).
"In the past two years, we have seen a doubling of the number of parking transactions by Dutch people abroad. We expect this trend to continue to develop with the arrival of the renewed app, also because the number of locations in Europe where you can pay with an app is increasing." -Michael Stark, Country Director of EasyPark Netherlands
With Electric Car Abroad
More and more Dutch people are also going abroad with their electric car. The use of an app is already well established among electric drivers. No less than nine out of ten electric drivers use an app to park and find parking abroad easy. Michael Stark: "Of course, the majority already use an app in everyday life to find charging stations, so also when they go abroad. Within this group of drivers you see that using an app as a means to pay for both parking and charging is very normal."
One App for All of Europe
EasyPark sees that more and more European cities are working hard to make their cities liveable for both their own residents and visitors. Good parking facilities that are clearly indicated contribute to this. Michael Stark: “And as a visitor to a city, you can also make it easier for yourself by using a parking app. EasyPark has one app that can be used in more than 20 European countries. For Dutch people, it is now also possible to use it throughout Europe, making it increasingly easier to find your way across the border without any worries.”
