EasyPark Group Relieves Stress and Introduces New Way of Parking with Q-Park in Belgium
Three out of Four Belgians Find Parking in the City Stressful
Most Belgians find it stressful when searching for a parking space and they are also afraid of losing their parking tickets, according to an iVox study commissioned by EasyPark Group. The parking pressure is so high in Belgium that many experience difficulties finding a space quickly, leading to stress among 74% of Belgians. The study shows that more than 500,000 people from all over Belgium waste at least 10 minutes every day searching for parking, and a further 54% of Belgians admit to paying (much) more than is strictly necessary for their parking just so they can avoid a fine.
It is, therefore, unsurprising that 61% of respondents often choose to park in off-street parking facilities instead of parking on public roads. “It’s often easier to find a free space in a car park – partly because the number of available space is usually indicated when you enter and it is easier to maneuver around once inside, ” said Andre Wielaard from EasyPark. “Our survey has found that off-street car parks also give motorists a peace of mind because their cars are safely parked in a secure site,” he added.
However, car parks create another worry for motorists: the fear of losing your parking ticket. In most cases losing your ticket means paying a fee equivalent to a whole day's worth of parking. This has lead 57% of Belgians to participate in the peculiar habit of compulsively checking if they still have their ticket in their pocket.
EasyPark and Q-Park announce new partnership in Belgium
EasyPark, the largest mobile parking application in Europe, recently added Belgium to its already extensive coverage network. With the EasyPark application, you can now use Q-Park car parks in Belgium. Number plate recognition cameras register when you enter and exit a car park, so you no longer need a parking ticket. Payment is handled automatically via the app once the motorist has initially registered, without the motorists requiring their phone for subsequent transactions.
EasyPark is already available in more than 1.000 cities in 15 other countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Spain. In Belgium, the app is available in Brussels and several Q-Park locations across the country. The EasyPark app is in Belgium available for iOS and Android devices.
