Don Monahan named Prestigious PCC Fellow by the National Parking Association
Don Monahan, P.E., vice president, Walker Parking Consultants, has been named an NPA Parking Consultants Council (PCC) Fellow. This is the highest honor bestowed on active members of the PCC. Only two other PCC members—Larry Donoghue and Carl Walker—have achieved this distinction.
Monahan has 27 years of parking consulting experience and specialized expertise in mechanical parking structures, functional design, signage, lighting, safety, security, waterproofing, parking equipment, fire protection, and building code issues.
The NPA Parking Consultants Council is the parking industry’s only peer-reviewed, qualifications-based consulting group within the parking industry. NPA’s PCC helps advocate for building codes, develop best practices documents and develop guides and manuals on parking industry practices.
As a member of the International Conference of Building Officials, Monahan has authored several sections of the International Building Code 2003 related to parking structure design. He has been an active member of the PCC since 1986 and has co-authoring many PCC publications, particularly concerning code issues, lighting, safety, security and automated vehicle storage retrieval systems.
“Don Monahan, P.E., has earned the esteem of his peers, the parking industry and the National Parking Association for his thoughtful leadership, expert insights and contribution to the body of knowledge in parking industry best practices,” said NPA President Christine Banning, CAE. PCC Chair Chuck Cullen, CAPP, CPP, presided at the NPA’s Winter PCC Meeting where the entire council unanimously approved Parking Fellow honors for Monahan.
