Digital Payment Technologies' New Mobile App Enables Parking Industry's Mobile Workforce

New Parking App Allows Parking Patrollers to Easily Verify if a Vehicle Is Citable

- Vancouver, British Columbia, CA

Digital Payment Technologies (DPT), a leading provider of multi-space pay stations and enterprise software parking solutions, today announced the launch of Digital Patrol, the first in a series of new mobile apps. Digital Patrol puts real-time pay station data in the hands of parking patrollers via an Android device and helps operators reduce overall costs, increase workflow efficiency and citation accuracy.

Digital Patrol is a payment verification application that enables patrollers to determine if a vehicle is citable by validating either a license plate or space number. Rather than waiting for a printed enforcement report from a pay station, Digital Patrol directly connects to DPT's Enterprise Management System to access real-time payment data.

The data is retrieved and displayed in an easy to read format, using "traffic light" indicators, which allows patrollers to quickly identify expired permits and those that have time remaining. This cost-effective solution also provides License Plate Recognition (LPR) for quick license plate 'look up' to augment an organization's current citation solution.

"More and more companies are equipping their mobile workforces with cost-effective smartphones and mobile applications enabling them to make better decisions and be more productive and efficient which results in reduced operational costs overall," said Kathy O'Donoghue, DPT's vice president, product. "Our mobile software strategy offers the parking industry an easy way to empower their field staff by quickly putting usable data into the hands of parking organizations. Our clients are already seeing results."

"We have been using Digital Patrol since June and are pleased with its accuracy and ease-of-use," said JC Porter, assistant director of transportation and parking services at Boise State University. "As our parking ambassadors move to using Android smartphones for the hand-held unit, this app enables us to consolidate devices and eliminate the need to print reports at the pay station, resulting in less paper, and ultimately costing us less money."
