Successful networking: DESIGNA's partner, SVG, celebrates its 25th anniversary

It was the first company in Europe to provide round-the-clock support for car parks with no on-site staff: Würzburger Stadtverkehrs-GmbH, or SVG. This was using a central parking control centre and technology provided by DESIGNA.

The year was 1988, 25 years ago. Ever since then, SVG has pursued this course resolutely – and in the process has become one of the largest parking operators in Germany.

From the very start DESIGNA was SVG's technology partner and from day one the two companies were bound together by a passion for innovation. The implementation of the central parking control centre was pioneering work in the 1980s and a major technical challenge. Today, 115 parking facilities with around 80,000 spaces are overseen from this central location using video and voice communication at the entrances, exits and automatic pay stations. That this works extremely well in practice is demonstrated by the extraordinarily high level of customer satisfaction.

Another innovative project implemented jointly by SVG and DESIGNA is Application Service Providing, or ASP for short. Since 2012 every car park has been operated reliably over the Internet in a certificated data processing centre. This increases not only system reliability but also flexibility, with additional car parks being added in next to no time. Today 350 machines are already connected to the server, and this figure is increasing all the time. This means that new parking products, such as the Würzburg Parking App, can easily be introduced across the board.

A multitude of other projects have also been implemented by the partnership over the last quarter of a century, from hospital parking to urban networking – and we are sure that more will follow. DESIGNA would like to congratulate SVG on its anniversary and wish the company every success and continued outstanding innovative strength in future.
