Looking securely to the future: The new 5 € banknote

Eleven years after its introduction, it is being redesigned: the Euro. The new banknotes are to be made even more secure because there has been a significant increase in the number of forgeries in circulation of late. Only a few of the security features are to be publicised, the rest are secret and are intended to deter would-be forgers.

The DESIGNA parking management systems will also be well-prepared for the introduction of the new banknotes. The software for the banknote recognition is currently being programmed so that it will recognise the new notes with the familiar certainty and be ready for delivery from March.

In the vast majority of cases, an update of the banknote scanner software is all that will be necessary for the changeover of the DESIGNA systems; for older models, hardware modifications may also be necessary. Concrete information on the changeover routine will be sent to you by post before the end of February so that you are prepared in good time for the introduction of the new 5 € banknote.
