First Designa CONNECT & TICKETLESS Installation in Portugal at Pingo Doce

DESIGNA delivered the first CONNECT & TICKETLESS installation in Portugal. A great milestone!

DESIGNA is continuously striving to enhance its features and operations. Park-Car, our local partner in Portugal, implemented one of these new features for the Portuguese supermarket chain Pingo Doce.

Pingo Doce is not just any chain. The supermarket chain has almost 400 stores throughout Portugal. Offering customer experiences for so many sites also means a lot of responsibility in managing the customer flow. Our long-term partner, Car-Park, takes care of 63 stores for Pingo Doce.

At Pingo Linda-a-Velha, Park-Car installed two Designa CONNECT IN SLIM and Designa CONNECT OUT SLIM terminals. For Payment, they installed one CASH & CARD PAY STATION, allowing customers to choose their preferred payment method.
We incorporated a QR code reader into the terminals for long-term parking, employee parking, and the discounting option.

Another installation for Grão Vasco has been placed already. More to follow.

In consultation with the customer Pingo Doce, Park-Car decided on gated Ticketless solutions, enhancing security and convenience for the supermarket and its customers.

However, one of the most exciting features of our new CONNECT installation is its ability to leverage barcodes found on the supermarket receipt. These barcodes, provided by the supermarket, contain data to guarantee secure discounting through identifiers & checksums.
With this information at our fingertips, we've introduced a feature that enables us to offer discounts easily. We can seamlessly integrate external barcodes and QR codes as discount vouchers if we can access the string within a barcode. This enhances customer loyalty and drives sales for the customer.

We are confident this was the first of many new CONNECT & TICKETLESS projects in Portugal! We are happy about this cooperation and look forward to further expanding it!
