DESIGNA at Russians Biggest and Most Modern Airport
Domodedovo airport is located in the suburbs of Moscow. Through the last years the former domestic airport has developed to Russians biggest and most important hub of international aviation. More and more members of Star Alliance, Oneworld and other well-known airlines are attracted by the airport in the South of the capital.
The complicated user profile of an international airport with several different target groups (coaches, short- and long-term parkers, taxis etc.) and the rough climate, especially the temperatures down to minus 35C in the wintertime requires a perfect setup of the parking terminals.
The first car park was installed in the end of November right before the Christmas travel season. It contains eight PM ABACUS Automatic Pay Stations, six entrance terminals and six exit terminals. All entrances and exits are equipped with the fully integrated DESIGNA Licence Plate Recognition system. The LPR combines the number plate of the vehicle with the ticket. To cope with the low temperature the electronic is protected by special heating devices.
In times of globalization and rapid technologic development the world is closing in and the number of travellers is increasing from year to year. To cover a maximum count of leisure travellers and businessmen all terminals are multilingual and support Russian as well as English, French and German.
As part of the security package the automatic pay stations are equipped with online credit card functionality with a high security level. The user needs to enter his pin code to authorise the payment. Furthermore the exit and entrance lanes are monitored by orbit cameras which are fully integrated into the LPR system.
The installed car park was the first of at least two phases. The second phase, which contains three more car parks, will go-life in summer 2007.
The car park major project with more than 1,400 spaces is implemented by DESIGNA in cooperation with Siemens AG.
