A Clear Run for Euro 2012: DESIGNA at the PGE Arena
The whole of Europe is looking towards Poland and the Ukraine at the minute. And anyone who is actually there is likely to come across DESIGNA too. The brand new PGE Arena in Gdansk has its own PM ABACUS system for parking management, meaning that visitor traffic is guaranteed to run smoothly.
The futuristic arena with its shimmering gold exterior was designed by the renowned Dusseldorf architects, Rhode Kellermann Wawroswky, and built by Alpine AG. With 44,000 seats, it is one of Poland's largest stadia and, although it has only recently opened, it is already being celebrated in Gdansk as a new city landmark.
The parking area, which has space for a total of 2,170 cars and 95 coaches, is managed by a PM ABACUS system with 6 entrances and exits and 6 automatic pay stations. A special feature of the software is the live pre-booking facility, with which guests can book their parking space in advance via their web browser.
The system was installed by our local partner, TRIMAR. The first practical test during the European Championship took place on 10th June with the Spain-Italy game. When the winner of Group B plays the runner up from Group A on 22nd June, the German team might even be visiting Gdansk. We're keeping our fingers crossed!
