Ballast Nedam Handed Over the P+R Parking Garage to the Municipality of Rheden/ Dieren in the Netherlands
Ballast Nedam finished construction of the Park and Ride facility in Dieren, the Netherlands. The car park has 340 spaces and starts at a lower level than the ground floor in order to maintain the city’s skyline.
The P+R is set to ease the journey between car and train for travelers. The car park will also alleviate the number of cars parked in the surrounding areas with a clear and easy connection to the train station.
The façade of the Park and Ride facility uses Accoya wood which is expected to last 50 years. The sustainable façade matches the overall city project called “Traverse Dieren” which includes a pedestrian bridge that connects both sides of the station, a tunnel for ongoing car traffic and an overall traffic flow improvement for the area.
“Once again this is an example that a parking garage doesn’t need to be an ugly steel and concrete structure. The parking garage fits perfectly in the surrounding and is a part of the complete Traverse,” said Frenk Prins, Commercial Manager for Ballast Nedam Parking.
The P+R Dieren was opened on the 25th of June.
