Reducing parking at the roadside also increases safety and visibility, especially for pedestrians and cyclists: according to accident research, around one in five accidents involving this group of road users occurs in connection with vehicles parked at the roadside, as this can obscure important lines of sight.

The fewer cars parked along the road, the higher the probability that pedestrians and cyclists will be seen at the roadside - and also have a better view of the traffic situation themselves.
