APCOA Provides GreenMobility Users With Free Parking Spaces in Two Parking Garages in Cologne
APCOA PARKING Germany is working in Cologne with the Danish car-sharing provider GreenMobility. Customers now have ten parking spaces each in the multi-storey car parks Klapperhof (Im Klapperhof 13, 50670 Cologne) and Rheinauhafen (Harry-Blum-Platz 2, 50678 Cologne). There you can pick up and park the Renault ZOE electric cars free of charge.
The locations are in the north and south of Cologne's old town and are therefore in a popular area with limited parking space. The cooperation is to be further expanded in the future. It is planned to create charging options for e-cars in the multi-storey car parks. Further joint locations in German cities are already being planned.
"Through the cooperation, we are making car sharing even more attractive by providing additional parking spaces," says David Müller, Director Urban Hubs at APCOA PARKING Germany. “This is how we ensure fewer parked cars in public spaces. At the same time, we are making a contribution to the traffic revolution and thus to protecting the environment and climate.”
Urban Hubs Offer Space for Services
The collaboration is part of APCOA's urban hubs concept. In this way, Europe's leading parking space manager is creating space in its multi-storey car parks for services provided by partner companies. These include, for example, rental stations for rental and sharing vehicles. For these mobility offers, specially designated areas are to be created in the garages. There are also plans to integrate the services into the APCOA FLOW app.
GreenMobility Starts on the Rhine With a Fleet of 100 E-cars
GreenMobility currently offers its customers in Cologne and Düsseldorf a fleet of 100 fully electric e-cars, which is to be tripled in the summer. Vehicles are not tied to stations, but can be parked freely in a specific area. Billing is by the minute, currently at a reduced price of only nine instead of 30 cents per minute. A total of 160,000 customers use the GreenMobility offer in eleven European cities.
"With our purely electric fleet, we offer comfortable and climate-friendly mobility at reasonable prices," says Thomas Heltborg Juul, Managing Director at GreenMobility. “In this way we want to establish ourselves in Germany in the long term. Thanks to the cooperation with APCOA, we can provide additional parking space at centrally located locations in Cologne. We are happy to make it easier for our customers to find a parking space.”
About APCOA PARKING Deutschland GmbH
APCOA PARKING Deutschland GmbH is based at Stuttgart Airport and offers its customers more than 230,000 parking spaces at around 300 locations in over 80 cities. The company stands for modern parking space management in inner cities, at airports, trade fairs, hotels and hospitals throughout Germany. APCOA was awarded as the fairest company 2019 in the field of car park operators by Focus Money.
APCOA sees itself as a modern service provider that is breaking new ground. With the free parking app APCOA FLOW, the company offers its customers a secure and contactless option to use more than 100,000 parking spaces in over 200 selected parking garages throughout Germany. Those who use the app need neither a ticket nor cash for the machine, thus saving valuable time. Another innovation from APCOA are the Urban Hubs, with which the company offers its parking spaces to new user groups. These include partners from the logistics sector, such as delivery services, who use the multi-storey car park as a transhipment point for their goods. However, the locations are also suitable, for example, as charging points for e-vehicles, parking spaces for car rental companies or small service stations. In addition, there are many other possible applications in the areas of electrification, mobility and new technology and services.
