APCOA scores highly again in ACS assessment

For the second-year running, APCOA PARKING (UK) has been named in the top five per cent of the Security Industry Authority’s (SIA) Approved Contractor Scheme.

APCOA, who are Europe’s leading parking management company, achieved its highest ever score of 149. It exceeds the previous year’s impressive total by nine indicators, and reaffirms APCOA’s position as a high quality dual service provider.

The measure of APCOA’s employees, along with its processes and procedures, is an essential key performance indicator (KPI) to maintaining a top 5 per cent score.

APCOA’s security activities, which are licensable under the SIA, were all assessed in July 2014 across randomly selected locations. These comprised: cash valuables in transit (CViT), security guarding, and CCTV/public surveillance.

It’s the fourth-year that APCOA has been assessed by the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB), who are thespecialist certification body affiliated with the Security Industry Authority – the governing body.

As a certification body, the SSAIB’s objective is to promote high standards of service within the security industry to ensure compliance to SIA standards/regulations.

The initial assessment is a full criteria assessment conducted every three years to ensure best practice/compliance. Upon successful completion, companies are assessed annually on a number of indicators which are randomly selected by the assessor.

There are a number of standards and business improvement models that exist, both internationally and in the UK. The Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) standard, however, is awarded to organisations that are committed to customer service and the compulsory licencing of their staff. It also verifies that employment practices have been extensively assessed in respect of quality and best practice.
