ACS to Acquire Ascom's Transport Revenue Division
Affiliated Computer Services, Inc., a premier provider of business process and information technology outsourcing solutions, announced today that it has reached an agreement to acquire the Transport Revenue division from Ascom AG, a Switzerland-based communications company (Swiss Exchange: ASCN).

"This combination will solidify ACS' position as the leading provider of transportation solutions to governments worldwide in terms of revenue," said Tom Burlin, Group President of ACS Government Solutions. "With Transport Revenue, we will add a strong management team, leading edge technological solutions, and a global marketing platform serving customers in over 30 countries."
Transport Revenue's lineage stretches back over 40 years in the transportation payment solutions market. Their leading market position is demonstrated by: over 1,000 transit payment solutions for rail, bus, tram, and subway operators; over 1,000 parking systems for airports, municipal authorities, hospitals, and other parking lots; and over 600 highway lanes equipped for toll collection in the U.S. alone.
Growth in these markets is fueled by the same problem faced by local governments throughout the world: insufficient tax receipts and infrastructure to keep pace with the rapid growth in transportation demand. As a result, local authorities are investing in automated systems that will enable them to collect usage fees more efficiently. ACS currently collects over $4 billion in transportation usage fees annually. This acquisition will enable ACS to better serve the large transit and parking payment solutions markets.
The acquisition of Transport Revenue will bring nearly 800 employees to ACS from locations in Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, China, Mexico, Chile, and the United States. The Transport Revenue group will be led by its current Managing Director, Riet Cadonau, and will be integrated into ACS' existing Transportation Solutions line of business headed by Michael Huerta.
