Xerox Parking and its local partner Computer Station recently installed the Multipark parking management solution in Souq Waqif Underground Parking

Xerox Parking and Computer Station finished the installation of their Multipark parking management solution in the Souq Waqif underground car park. The car park was inaugurated this month and is the second car park in the area aimed at meeting the high demand of parking. It has a capacity of 650 vehicles.

Souq Waqif in the city of Doha in Qatar is a very popular market that sells traditional garments, spices and handcrafts and has many restaurants and Shisha lounges. The underground facility will also have a cinema which is expected to open next year. The open area above the car park hosts festivals and other gatherings.

The high traffic volume of Souq Waqif required a parking management solution that could cope with the amount of cars while alleviating the queues at the access points as well as the search for a parking space.

Xerox Parking installed entrance and exit barriers with NFC technology that will allow drivers to tap their Smart phone for the tap-and-go feature. The entrance has a security feature that scans the bottom of the car to ensure the safety of the thousands of people that visit Souq Waqif each day.

Once inside, the parking guidance system helps drivers find their car as well as informing drivers of where their car is when paying at one of the twelve automated payment devices.
