Aeroparker's Lounge Choice Awards
We have experienced a few airport lounges in our 13 years of airports and would like to sit back and take some time to thank the airports who have provided us with the best in ultimate luxury. Having been wined, dined, relaxed and entertained in some of the world’s top airports, we have comprised our very own ‘Lounge Choice Awards’ to give a little something back to those in which we have enjoyed the best service.
Heathrow Airport
Our first choice was an easy decision based on the extraordinary experience at Heathrow Airport’s Qatar Airways Premium Lounge. Completely exclusive, stylish and designed to instantly take you away from the hustle and bustle of the airport, The QA lounge is more of a boutique hotel and a chance to indulge into a unique gourmet dining experience. Diners can engage in a first class restaurant, selecting fresh and organic ingredients to be served as you choose, and surrounded by real olive trees. Calming water features and a seat at the Signature Bar sampling the very best in premium brand beverages is sure to set you up for the flight ahead, however if that still isn’t enough then the private showers with heated floors and complimentary towels should definitely do the trick. As we were on business, we found the PC’s, printers and free Wi-Fi another added bonus, making our 3 hour stay a pleasurable one in which we will never forget.
Helsinki Airport
The Finnair Lounge provided us with the one of the most relaxing experience we’ve ever had at an airport. A visit to the traditional Finnish sauna was a huge delight and great way to de-stress before our flight. The felt walls ensured that we were kept well unaware of the noisy airport and the unusual furniture designs was a great talking point with colleagues. The lounge seemed simple yet thoughtful to our needs, quite possibly making the buffet feel most elaborate but nevertheless extremely tasty. Views from the large windows were great, however the wireless mobile phone charging system definitely caught our attention and enhanced what seemed to be a futuristic experience.
John F. Kennedy International Airport
Although we do realise the benefits of this airport lounge wouldn’t be as magnificent on a terrible day, the morning we happened to arrive, glorious sunshine filled the outdoor terrace in the Delta Sky Club Lounge and was the perfect start to our trip. The atmosphere is great and as airport enthusiasts we loved watching all the runway action from the deck. Staff were extremely courteous and learnt our drinks order after one round. Again the qualities for business travellers like ourselves were abundant and we enjoyed the spacious bathroom facilities to freshen up before our flight. The added touch of a glimpse into aviation history from various posters provided us with that little extra entertainment and the few snacks we treated ourselves to were delightful.
Cape Town Airport
The SLOW Lounge in Cape Town Airport was one we had to mention for one aspect in particular. Whilst freshening up in the beautiful marble washrooms before our flight, we were pleasantly surprised by their signature ‘loo with a view’. Bathrooms with ceiling to floor panoramic views of the runway made for a very interesting toilet break and we were exceptionally entertained more than the usual bathroom magazine. Aside from this we enjoyed great rest in the library containing new and exclusive books, as well as a small complimentary treatment in the Amani Spa which relieved all are aches and pains from travelling. The chef prepared food was delicious, presented wonderfully and we liked the idea of being able to help ourselves or be provided with table service. Freshly brewed coffee was also an added luxury when we eventually had to kick start our working schedule in one of the many private booths.
We thank all the airport lounge staff for providing us with each fantastic experience and look forward to visiting again soon.
