Your mission

  • Required characteristics
  • TSO (Technical Secondary Education) (or equivalent) in relevant directions (e.g. Information Technology, Electronics or Mechatronics)
  • Training in electrical and/or control engineering is a plus
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant work experience in a similar position in maintenance and service projects
  • Wide range of technical skills, both mechanical and electrical
  • Experience with electrical systems, IT-related products (including IP infrastructure knowledge and integration in third-party networks) is a plus
  • You are a problem solver when it comes to hardware and software
  • Determine fault diagnoses and make structural improvements for customers
  • Administrative and communication skills
  • Solution-oriented, customer-friendly and stress-resistant
  • Willingness to learn and immerse yourself in the WPS systems
  • Excellent command of Dutch and French, with English as a bonus
  • In possession of a B driving license
  • VCA certified (is a plus)
  • Independence
  • Assess technical problems at customers in a thorough manner and resolve them within the possibilities of the systems of WPS;
  • Knows how to communicate in a customer-friendly and professional manner with colleagues and staff of customers on location;
  • Proactively reports findings, progress and results of work back to Dispatch and/or Project Manager;
  • Can adequately escalate difficult situations to dispatch, support engineers, Project Manager or Operations Manager;
  • Independently maintains standard administration of work and reports this back to Dispatch and/or Project Manager on a daily basis.

Physical aspects

  • Works under varying circumstances, regularly drives;
  • Depending on the situation, working with personal protective equipment is required;
  • Regular screen work;
  • Working hours may deviate temporarily, no 9-to-5 mentality and the willingness to work occasionally in the evenings or at the weekend;
  • Part of on-call services, running periodic breakdown services in the evenings and during the weekend.

Position in the organization

  • As a Technician, you are part of the Aftersales department of WPS Belgium and you report to the Service Manager and Dispatch. You are scheduled by Dispatch for interventions, maintenance and on projects by the Project Manager. You will have frequent contact with other technicians, our customers and Support Engineers.
