Head of Data & IT (Breda, NL)

The Head of Data & IT has the challenge of making strategic choices based on data that will help us achieve our goals and ambition faster and more efficiently.
The role & the challenge
As Head of Data and IT at Opcharge, you will play a key role in establishing and growing the Data and IT department. Opcharge is looking for a strategic and hands-on leader who will not only be responsible for developing a robust data platform and IT structure, but also for building and setting up the Data and IT organization. Within Opcharge we have a broad management team, in which each contributes to the success of Opcharge from their own expertise. Together with a small team, which is still in the set-up phase, and external suppliers, you establish the technological foundations, which are essential for the growth and scalability of the organization.
Responsibilities
In this entrepreneurial role, you will initially build on the foundation we have developed with an external Partner (Hot Item). The first version of a dashboard is live, which forms the basis for our data-driven approach. It will be up to you to shape the vision and potential of our data driven organization and build a team that can continue to develop that. Core responsibilities in this role include:
Team-management
- Build and manage the Data & IT team, including recruiting, mentoring and developing team members,
- Establish structures and processes, which contribute to a strong foundation for the Data and IT functions within Opcharge,
- Fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and results orientation within the department and organization wide.
Develop and monitor data and IT architecture
- Designing and implementing a future-proof architecture for the data platform based on Snowflake,
- Monitoring security, data integrity and scalability appropriate to a fast-growing organization,
- Implement solid architecture and best practices in close collaboration with the internal team and vendors.
Supplier management in the area of Data and IT
- Select and manage external vendors and partners to ensure high quality data and IT services,
- Drafting contracts, negotiating SLAs and optimizing vendor services,
- Ensure external partners contribute to Opcharge’s growth ambitions.
Business process implementation and integration
- Responsible for the seamless implementation of business processes and objects into the data and IT systems,
- Lead implementation projects to ensure systems and processes are optimally aligned with business objectives,
- Collaborate with other departments with the goal of streamlined integration of business processes into IT systems.
Establishing data governance and quality processes
- Establish data quality and security policies and structures that comply with relevant regulations and corporate standards,
- Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, such as GDPR, within the data platforms and IT architecture,
- Monitor and optimize data quality to increase the reliability and value of data within the organization.
Skills & experience
At Opcharge, we build good relationships and find personal contact very important. This applies to contact with external stakeholders as well as internally within the team. In addition to a good culture fit, the following is important for a good fit with the challenges in this role:
- Experience building and managing a team in a start-up or growing organization
- Technical expertise in data platforms, such as Snowflake, and in setting up IT architectures
- Analytical thinking skills with pragmatic translation contributing to the strategy and implementation of architecture and systems
- Stakeholder management and negotiation skills
- Business sense: able to implement and optimize business processes and IT and data systems.
Education and experience
- Graduate degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science or similar field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-growth or technology-driven environment.
- Demonstrated experience with Snowflake or other cloud-based data platforms.
- Experience with data management, governance and compliance is desired.
