The Western Group

The Western Group, headquartered in St. Louis, MO, is the nation's largest specialty contractor in the areas of masonry and concrete restoration and new construction preventive waterproofing. The company was founded in 1915 by George Bishop, Sr. and Ben Many. The company is privately held by the Bishop family.

The Western Group is composed of six member companies; Western Waterproofing Company, Inc., Western Waterproofing Company of America, Inc., Brisk Waterproofing Company, Harry S. Peterson, Inc., H.S. Peterson Co., Western Restoration and Waterproofing and Western Roofing and Insulation. To date, the Corporation has over thirty-six offices nationwide. It employs more than 1,000 salaried and hourly employees.

In 2003 the Corporation executed more than 3,200 individual contracts worth more than $130,000,000. In the October 2003 issue of Engineering News Record magazine, The Western Group was ranked 71st largest out of the top 600 U.S. specialty contractors. In individual categories, Western ranked 2nd in masonry and 13th in concrete work.
