For the past 35 years, SKIDATA has always attached great importance to the motto "Short waiting times, intuitive operation and a long life cycle". According to SKIDATA, sustainability and the constant new thinking and reconsidering of it, is the core of their philosophy. Environmental & Transport Sustainability
An example of their sustainability solutions, is that they have been offering recyclable RFID cards since 1987. They also optimize their transport routes, make an effort to avoid garbage and try to use as many recyclable and ecofriendly resources as possible. They even thought about the environment when choosing their production locations: their main supplier and central repair workshop are located close to SKIDATA, making the transport routes as short as possible.
Resource Efficiency
Because they feel they have a social responsibility, SKIDATA makes sure that at least two third of their suppliers has a published sustainability plan and that they do not purchase more than 5 percent of their production material from companies without reasonable sustainability efforts. When packaging products, SKIDATA uses no ecologically harmfull products and they separate their waste. SKIDATA reduces the use of paper by printing as less as possible and offering documentation online and as a download. By offering documentation this way to partners and suppliers, they also reduce shipping costs.
Energy Efficiency
To protect the climate, SKIDATA uses energy-efficient resources like LED technology in their buildings and reduce energy consumption with technologies like vehicle detection in their parking facilities. Due to the vehicle detection technology, parking columns only turn on when there's a car right in front of it. When no cars are around, the parking columns like display buttons are turned off and don't use any energy. Other solutions SKIDATA implemented to reduce energy use can be found in the brochure.
