So we thought we’d seen, heard and smelt (?) it all in the world of advertising – now marketeers are using scent in the hopes to entice us to purchase their product or use their service. Usually just beyond our sense of conscious perception, scent marketing is being used in shopping centres, hotels, car showrooms and the list goes on.
However, scent marketing is not just about the hard sell, it is also being used to promote a feeling of safety and cleanliness in car parks across the Netherlands. Among others, Breda, Nieuwegein and Enschede local councils are using the saintly scents of the Dutch scent marketing leader AllSens to alleviate offensive odours in the public car parks.
AllSens research has shown that a fresh clean scent in car parks, encourage cleanliness in the car park users themselves.
What a breath of fresh air!!
