Four key players in the parking industry, two of which we are proud to call our own Business Members are joining forces to provide downtown Detroit and it’s neigbouring areas with a shiny new on-street parking system.
"For decades, residents and visitors have all been frustrated by our parking system, and our hard-working parking enforcement officers have usually gotten all the blame," Detroit COO Gary Brown said. "But those days are over, because in the coming weeks, the city of Detroit will be home to the most comprehensive and customer-friendly parking meter system in the entire country."
The new system will replace over 3,000 outdated roadside parking meters with partially solar-powered multi-space Cale kiosks and the ParkDetroit mobile app created by Passport will provide drivers with an more effective and cost-efficient way to pay for parking.
Using the new system, drivers can move their cars within the paid parking time with no further charge, and they can also set up a digital wallet – where they pre-pay for parking and the parking fees are deducted over time, per use.
