As Product Manager for HUB’s Jupiter product range, I am proud to introduce it to you. It has been a galactic journey - from the very first concept within our development team, through constantly interfacing with the markets, challenging the traditional approach to product design, keeping the team passionate & focused, and eventually delivering on the promise: with Jupiter, the future of parking has just begun.
Here are the three most common questions I have received along this project until the launch, three facts you thought you knew about Jupiter, but - let me reply straight away:
Jupiter is just a planet.
Jupiter is HUB’s new product range, designed for the cloud, and for the most advanced parking installations on planet Earth. We have merged the extensive knowledge and experience of our technical engineers along with input from our clients (parking operators, municipalities, airports, retail centers, hospitals, and more) in order to rationalize the design, adapt to complex systems, and increase customer satisfaction.
Name a combination of the most requested features in modern parking, and be rest assured that Jupiter is ready to respond: contract parking, credit card functionalities, license plate recognition and its advanced reporting, or even an aggregation of these.
Jupiter parking systems look like a refreshed version of the well-known HUB products, rather than a brand new space-age range.
Not really so - Jupiter is indeed good looking, thanks to its unique appearance that fully embodies HUB branding guidelines. It comes not only with an appealing design, but also with an intuitive set of icons, touch points, and guidance elements that turn the human-machine interaction into a flawless process.
Nowadays we are used to sleek and user-friendly interfaces: with Jupiter, the best and most innovative product design is effortlessly close to the end user. For instance, the automated pay station features a massive 15.6 inches display with a higher luminance, to guarantee ideal screen readability even in direct sunlight.
Along the design phase of Jupiter cabinets, we have kept both the consumers and the technicians at the heart of our thinking: the product range is quick to use, and straightforward to install, thanks to features that make it easy to service and troubleshoot.
Last and hidden, but not least: internal components and configurable options have been massively optimized. As a result, peripherals share a high quantity of spares, in order to preserve customer investments for many years to come.
A few thousands transactions are (NOT) sufficient for the proper field-testing of parking systems.
The range has been tested in a dozen different installations, varying from simple configurations to higher-traffic environments where the degree of complexity is variable, and access might peak unexpectedly. More than 2 million transactions have satisfied the strict requests of the team!
Thanks to the extended testing phase and best engineering practices, Jupiter system consistently performs over extreme weather conditions and heavy-duty applications, ensuring total peace of mind to operators, and a flawless experience to end users.
You might ask yourself now “when?” – well, Jupiter will be available to markets following an introduction in phases, starting from EMEA. From planet Earth to the outer space, it is ready to change the way parking is conceived. I genuinely feel that with Jupiter, we have pushed boundaries further, once again: this is a pioneer solution, a bundle of technological innovation in an elegant suit.
